Being chosen as the English class representative came as a pleasant surprise to me. However, little did I know that my new role would entail fulfilling various demands. This article aims to explore the three major requests made by our English class representative and how I managed to meet them.

Meeting the Demand for Interesting Lessons:
The first demand put forth by our English class representative was to make our lessons more interesting and engaging. To accomplish this, I decided to incorporate a variety of teaching methods and materials. I began introducing multimedia elements such as videos, songs, and presentations to capture students' attention. Moreover, I encouraged class discussions and debates, allowing students to express their opinions freely. By designing interactive activities and incorporating real-life examples, I aimed to make the learning experience more enjoyable and relevant. As a result, the overall classroom atmosphere became livelier, and students showed greater interest and enthusiasm towards English lessons.

Addressing the Need for Individual Attention:
Recognizing that every student has unique learning needs, our English class representative requested personalized attention for each student. To fulfill this demand, I implemented a few strategies. Firstly, I organized one-on-one feedback sessions where students could discuss their weaknesses and receive guidance on how to improve. This allowed me to understand their individual challenges and tailor my teaching approach accordingly. Additionally, I provided extra study materials and recommended online resources to cater to different learning styles. By acknowledging and accommodating the diverse needs of my classmates, I aimed to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Catering to Exam Preparation:
Another significant demand made by our English class representative was to assist in exam preparation. To tackle this, I devised a comprehensive study plan. I scheduled regular review sessions to help students consolidate their knowledge and practice their skills. I provided mock tests and sample papers to simulate exam scenarios and improve their time management. Furthermore, I encouraged peer-to-peer learning by creating study groups, where students could help each other and discuss challenging topics. With a focus on exam-oriented teaching, I aimed to instill confidence in my classmates and equip them with the necessary skills to excel in their English exams.

Conclusion:
Meeting the demands of our English class representative has challenged me as a student and a leader. By making our lessons more interesting and engaging, addressing individual needs, and aiding in exam preparation, I have strived to fulfill her expectations. Although it required extra effort and dedication, the outcome has been rewarding. Not only have I witnessed significant improvements in my peers' language skills, but I have also experienced personal growth as an English class representative. Moving forward, I aim to continue meeting the demands of my classmates and creating a conducive environment for effective English learning.

  参考消息网1月21日报道 南非独立在线新闻网站1月17日刊登题为《中非农业合作:非洲粮食安全和食品主权的安全网》的文章,作者是非洲科学院前院长、中国工程院外籍院士菲利克斯·达帕雷·达科拉。全文摘编如下:

  中非合作已有几十年的历史,在经贸、政治、和平与安全等领域持续蓬勃发展。

  不过,中非之间最近的倡议主要集中在促进科技创新、协同发展方面。在教育领域,有越来越多的非洲学生开始选择到中国接受本科和研究生教育,而非前往英美。在过去很长一段时间里,英美一直在国际教育中占据统治地位。

  作为帮助非洲仍不断增长的十多亿人口解决吃饭问题的第一步,中非教育合作的重点之一是培训农业科技和创新技能。吃饭问题是非盟面临的一项重大挑战。

  和非洲一样,中国在上世纪五六十年代也曾遭受粮食不安全之苦,但现在已经找到了应对粮食短缺的机制。如今,中国用占不足全球9%的耕地,实现了占全球20%以上的粮食产量,而非洲拥有占全球64%的农业用地,生产的粮食却仅占其消费量的10%。

  因此,非洲可以向中国学习,以养活目前依赖粮食进口的十多亿人口。可核实的数据显示,2021年有约2340万非洲人口陷于严重的粮食不安全,另有约3440万非洲人口遭受中度的粮食不安全。

  非洲科学院是非洲科学界的代言人,以通过科学改变非洲人民的生活为愿景,寻求利用中国丰富的科技进步来解决非洲的粮食安全问题。

  为此,非洲科学院已与多家中国科研机构和高校签署并实施了谅解备忘录,包括中国农业科学院、中国热带农业科学院、中国科学院、中国工程院和中国林业科学研究院等。

  因此,中非农业科技创新合作项目不断增加,其宗旨就是实现非洲的粮食自给、粮食主权和零饥饿。

  毫不夸张地说,中非农业合作取得了丰硕成果,为非洲的粮食安全、粮食自给和粮食主权构建了安全网。

  2023年,第二届中非农业合作论坛在中国海南三亚举办,吸引了非洲多国约39位农业部高级官员及非盟高级官员,凸显了中非农业合作的重要性。

  在上述论坛之前举办的第七届国际农科院院长高层研讨会也汇聚了全球农业科技领域的领军机构和人物,探讨全球粮食安全问题,尤其是非洲的粮食不安全问题。作为研讨会的成果,一套新的合作机制在中国农业科学院和非洲科学院倡导下建立,其中包括联合国粮农组织、国际原子能机构等,其唯一任务是通过中非研究合作和对非洲青年科学家的联合培训来实现非洲农业转型。

  在“一带一路”倡议和中非合作论坛框架下,中国科学院与非洲科学家之间的科研合作已经开始解决粮食安全、减贫、农业可持续发展等领域的重大问题。

  通过对农业技术的联合研究、示范验证和转让,通过展开培训和进行能力建设,这些合作收获颇丰,取得进展的领域包括作物育种和现代栽培技术、植物病虫害监测和控制、动物疫苗研发、沼气技术应用等。这些成果为非洲农业技术的发展作出积极贡献。

  此外,中国注意到非洲拥有广阔的可用耕地,非洲农业是确保全球粮食安全的关键,因此大力支持非洲实现粮食自给自足和富余粮食出口。中方在中非领导人对话会上提出的《中国助力非洲农业现代化计划》就强调了这种观点。

  这一计划指出,非洲农业发展仍面临资金紧缺、基础设施和农业设备匮乏、产业链供应链不完备、生产方式较落后等制约因素。

  根据这一计划,中国决定并大力支持探索中非农业合作新路径,这是非常值得效仿和赞赏的。过去,非洲与其殖民宗主国的关系一直因粮食问题而恶化,后者仅限于提供食品援助而不是有助于粮食自给自足和粮食主权的技术援助。非洲实现粮食自给并将富余粮食用于出口的新曙光已经出现,而在此之前,非洲大陆在很长一段时间内都无法做到这一点。
